Did you know every single planet in our solar system fits side-by-side in the space between the moon and Earth? Apparently the moon is that far from Earth, and this unique looking inflatable spaceship is a replica of the NASA Orion spacecraft that will be able to reach the moon and much further, like Mars. This 20' tall reproduction is being used by NASA to spread the word on their latest project. This spacecraft will send humans into deep space missions never attempted before in history, including a mission to Mars. How cool is that? Well, I guess it's not that cool if you compare our technology to advanced alien technology that can allow them to travel to other star systems. Going to Mars would be like going to the grocery store for them, probably. Well, for us puny humans, it's exciting to go to another planet in our solar system.
Producing a detailed inflatable like this 20 years ago would not have been possible because digital printing wasn't advanced enough. Nowadays, digital printing is everywhere, and it allows us to be able to transfer high quality art to a printed medium in high detail. With this custom inflatable spacecraft, we paid attention to all the intricate details. Some inflatable shapes are much easier to design than others, and this one in particular was no easy feat. This complex inflatable required hundreds of patterns to be sewn together carefully and meticulously.
